Specialized consulting group adds to growing client list with new projects
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Acentech’s Studio A, a specialized acoustics, audiovisual systems design, and vibration consulting group for the performing arts, announced today that it has been selected for three performing arts projects around the country. These projects follow on the heels of the recently completed Sala Sinfonica Pablo Casals, a new symphony hall within the Centro de Bellas Artes complex in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for which Studio A provided consulting services.
The first of the three new projects involves the evaluation of the DeNault Auditorium at the Reiland Fine Arts Center at Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota. Studio A has completed a thorough on-site investigation into the acoustics of the 700-seat theater, which was completed in 2001, and is currently preparing a report that will help the college plan for enhancements to the facility to optimize it as a concert setting for band, orchestra, chorus, and ensemble performances.
Studio A consultants have also begun work, in partnership with Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture of New York City and Theatre Projects Consultants of Norwalk, Connecticut, on a new teaching theater for the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. This 300-seat thrust theater is expected to be completed in late fall of 2012. The scope of work includes architectural acoustics design, mechanical systems noise control, and sound and communications systems design.
In New England, Studio A has teamed with Scott Simons Architects of Portland, Maine to win the new Brattleboro Music Center project in Brattleboro, Vermont. An old factory building will be rebuilt into the new home of the Brattleboro Music Center, a unique, community-based organization that was founded in 1952 by artistic director Blanche Moyse. The new facility will feature various music practice facilities and a flexible performance and rehearsal venue for a range of regional music ensembles, including the Windham Orchestra and the Blanche Moyse Chorale. Studio A’s work includes architectural acoustics and mechanical system noise control consulting for the new Center.
