It’s yet another week working from home. For some, working remotely might be part of their normal routine, however, for most of us, it still means getting comfortable with a new way of working and living.
As marketers and business development professionals, a big part of our career is networking and showing up consistently for that network. At the start of COVID-19, we had to think about how we continue to connect and stay relevant with our clients, prospects, and others within our network as we spend more time at home working from our kitchen table.
Zoom is saving us right now.
Just last week, I, along with many other SMPS Boston colleagues, got together for a virtual trivia night via Zoom combined with a BYOB cocktail hour, sponsored by the Outreach Committee. Regardless of your drink of choice (Quarantini, anyone?), attendees were separated into three teams with five individuals on each team. SMPS Boston pledged to donate $500 in the winning team’s name to a charity of their choice that provides COVID-related relief services.
The three self-named teams were: The 5 Marketeers, Mojito Mixers, and Summer Lovin’. A huge thank you goes out to Lisa Frisbee, our host, and Beth Musacchio, who kept track of time and scores and presented the questions. Also, a virtual tip of the cap goes to Paulina Villaroel-Cruz for the initial spark of an idea for the event.
There ended up being a tie for first place between Summer Lovin’ and Mojito Mixers, so SMPS Boston will be donating $250 to both Rosie’s Place and the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Although I was not on the winning team, it was a fun night filled with laughter, friendly competition, networking, and the perfect mix of funny and perplexing questions and answers. In the meantime, while I look forward to the next Virtual SMPS Boston event, I am going to revisit my geography knowledge.
