SLAM CS Celebrates 20 Years

20yrs

Glastonbury, CT – S/L/A/M Construction Services (SLAM CS), a division of The S/L/A/M Collaborative, announced that September 30 was the company’s 20th anniversary of its founding.

In 1996, The S/L/A/M Collaborative founded SLAM CS as the firm recognized a benefit to clients’ project outcomes by offering a single solution for design and construction. SLAM believed that by taking on additional responsibility, they could achieve greater control of a project and, therefore, better manage risk.

Today, design-build has become a popular and growing alternative delivery method to design-bid-build and construction management. In addition to being trendsetters in the local market, SLAM CS’ services have expanded to preconstruction, owner’s representative, and construction management.

Eugene Torone, president of SLAM CS, has worked in the industry for over 30 years and has been running the firm’s daily operations since its inception in 1996.

Today, a total of 11 staff make up a multifaceted team of construction experts whose combined experience amounts to more than 150 years.

“The recent hire of five new employees over the last two years is a reflection of our firm’s growth and continued investment. It’s important for us to have innovators on staff who can set us apart, boost our prominence and broaden our offerings,” Torone said. “That’s a huge value for our customers who are looking to stay ahead of the growing trends and achieve the best value for their projects.”

S/L/A/M Construction Services has managed to unite construction fundamentals with some of the industry’s best pre-construction and estimating services. Throughout their 20-year history, SLAM CS has established a solid reputation with their clients by integrating modern-day technology with old-fashioned values, ultimately leading to a high client satisfaction rate with 42 percent of their work derived from repeat business. SLAM CS’ expertise now spans a multitude of market sectors with projects throughout Southern New England.

SLAM CS’ first client, Kent School, saw the benefit of a single point of responsibility to better manage the balance of quality, aesthetic and budgets, compared to their experiences with other delivery methods. Kent School approved SLAM to design and build the renovation and expansion of their science building. Not only was the project delivered on time and under budget, it added value in the form of quality products and amenities that enhanced the overall teaching environment and longevity of the building. Since then, SLAM CS has delivered 13 additional projects on the Kent School campus, using the same integrated design-build approach.
