Shawmut Kicks Off National Women in Construction Week

Boston –  Shawmut Design and Construction recently hosted a breakfast in honor of National Women in Construction week, to discuss women as a visible component of the construction industry.

The Shawmut hosted event, brought together over 150 attendees, including executives from industry partners Tsoi/Kobus & Associates, Cannistraro, Associated General Contractors of Mass, and the National Association of Women in Construction’s (NAWIC) Boston Chapter.

The breakfast included discussions around the vital role women play in construction led by Les Hiscoe, CEO of Shawmut and Marianne Monte, chief people officer. The event also featured a clothing drive benefitting Uncommon Threads, an organization dedicated to empowering women.

“At Shawmut we are committed to building a diverse, talent-driven workplace culture,” said  Hiscoe. “We were excited to host so many industry leaders at our offices to kick off National Women in Construction Week.”

This breakfast was part of National Women in Construction Week, occurring from March 5-11, 2017, hosted by the National Association of Women in Construction. In addition to the breakfast, Shawmut will recognize women throughout the week to further emphasize the growing role of women in the industry.

“As a female leader, I am proud to be part of a company that recognizes and empowers women,” said Monte. “The National Women in Construction Week Kick Off Breakfast is a firsthand example of Shawmut’s values and ongoing initiatives for women in the construction industry.”
