Richard White Sons Awarded BC High Cadigan Hall Project

Newton, MA – Richard White Sons, Inc., a prominent New England construction management and general contracting firm, is proud to announce the award of The Boston College High School, Cadigan Hall project.

Cadigan Hall will aide BC High’s mission of “challenging their students to become young men of integrity, educated in faith and for justice, committed to academic excellence and service to others” by providing a state-of-the art facility that will greatly enhance the school’s athletics, educational, and performance offerings.  The Cadigan Hall project scope includes the construction of a 28,000 GSF building in the courtyard between Cushing Hall, McNeice Pavilion, and Walsh Hall.  Cadigan Hall’s new glass façade and terrace will face the access road to UMass Boston and will be visible from Morrissey Boulevard. The interior scope includes a new gymnasium, art classroom space, tiered lecture hall and music and performance spaces.  The project was made possible by a historic donation of an accomplished and philanthropic 1952 BC High graduate named Pat Cadigan.  Mr. Cadigan ’52 a Cambridge native and leader of several top high tech firms in California, attributes his Jesuit education at BC High for his successful career.  Pat Cadigan ’52 continues to be one of BC High’s most loyal alumni and steadfast benefactors.

The one-story building addition is located within the heart of the BC High campus nestled between two main campus buildings and abutting active athletic fields. Logistical planning and communication will play a key role in the successful execution of the 11-month construction project.  The project will require carefully planned structural and utility tie-ins to active buildings. The foundation system will consist of piles and grade beams with a steel frame with masonry and a 4-sided structural silicone glazed (SSG) curtain wall system. Project construction began in October with a projected completion in summer 2013.

BC High is a prominent and world-renowned Jesuit, Catholic college preparatory school. Founded in 1863, BC High serves a student population of 1,600 young men in grades 7-12 from its Boston, Massachusetts campus.
