Andover, MA – RDK Engineers was recently awarded an American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) Vista 2016 Award for its MEP systems design and commissioning of the Carolinas HealthCare System Pineville Energy Plant. RDK won the Infrastructure Category Award, which honors projects that focus on a facility’s utility generation, distribution, or control systems.

The Pineville Energy Plant is a new, $37.5 million, 22,000sf standalone energy plant that serves a 700,000sf hospital. The project features redundant utility systems, flexibility to accommodate future growth, and is capable of being operated and managed remotely. The project was a complete infrastructure replacement and had no clinical impact on hospital operations.

Additional members of the team included: Rodgers Builders, construction management; Wright McGraw Beyer Architects, architectural; and Bloc Design, civil/site engineers.

ASHE presents the prestigious Vista Awards each year to “recognize the importance of teamwork in creating an optimal healthcare physical environment. The winning teams show a unity of purpose that helps their projects succeed from preplanning to implementation.”
