Providence Preservation Society Winter Bash Returns March 4

Providence, RI – The Providence Preservation Society (PPS) announced its 19th Winter Bash will take place at the Industrial Trust Building on March 4 from 7:30-11:30 p.m. The five-time Best of Rhode Island (Rhode Island Monthly) award-winning event will take place at 111 Westminster Street, aka the Superman Building. The theme for this year’s party is “Through the Looking Glass.”

The Winter Bash selects a new location for each event, highlighting the potential of historic locations that are typically in transition. This year’s location, the Industrial Trust Building, has been called one of Providence’s most iconic structures and it has appeared on PPS’s annual Most Endangered Properties list nine times.

“This iconic Providence venue will be transformed into a magical wonderland filled with luscious scenery, stunning performances, and fabulous costumes,” said event co-chairs Kristin Walcott-Matthews and Jess Powers. “Indulge in an evening of decadent dancing, succulent savories, and sweet treats from Rhode Island restaurants.”

Walcott-Matthews has a background as a bakery owner, theatrical costume designer and an operations manager for the Providence Children’s Film Festival, while Powers is a fixture on the local music scene who has performed as a solo artist and as part of the groups Route .44 and Cowboy and Lady. The event typically draws 400-500 attendees.

“This is our most important event each year because it encourages the general public to engage with historic spaces in fun and unique ways,” said Brent Runyon, executive director of PPS. “With two incredibly creative people leading
the effort and a wonderful host committee of dedicated volunteers, I’m confident that the Winter Bash will once again be the party of the year.”

Proceeds from this event support the PPS’ historic preservation advocacy and education work. Ticket prices range from $65 for general admission to $130 for VIP. Tickets can be purchased at pvdpreservation.org/bash.
