Chicago, IL – In June of 2016, the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) sent an email to its membership, reading in part the following:
OSHA recently passed a rule requiring employers to submit some records electronically. Employers with 250 or more employees will be required to submit their 2016 OSHA 300A form electronically by July 1, 2017. In addition these same employers will be required to submit their 2017 OSHA 300, 300A and 301 forms electronically by July 1, 2018 and by March 2nd each following year. Employers in high risk industries with 20 to 249 employees will be required to submit their 2016 and 2017 300A forms electronically by July 1st of the following year and by March 2nd every following year. Structural Steel Fabricators and Erectors are included in the list of high risk industries. This data will be made public.
Recently AISC learned that OSHA intends to propose extending the July 1, 2017 date by which certain employers are required to submit the information from their completed 2016 Form 300A electronically. As a result, records will not be made public until they are submitted electronically. Updates will be posted to the OSHA website at www.osha.gov/recordkeeping when they are available. Employers are encouraged to check this website regularly to look for the firm date on when such records must be submitted.
