Brockton, MA – NeighborWorks Housing Solutions (NHS) announced it recently received a Brockton Redevelopment Award from the Brockton Redevelopment Authority (BRA).

NHS Brockton program director, Cynthia Pendergast, accepted the award on behalf of NHS, which was announced during the BRA Annual Meeting held March 8 at the Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton and attended by representatives from the Brockton mayor’s office, the city planner’s office, local developers, and nonprofit organizations.

Among the numerous properties developed and constructed by NHS is Sycamore on Main in Brockton, a project of 48 affordable and workforce apartments that has served as a catalyst for continued development in the downtown. In the next few years, NHS will add additional housing stock to the Brockton community, including workforce and senior housing, and will be completing two historic rehabilitations at the former Lincoln School and the Greyson Hotel.

NHS was also acknowledged at the annual meeting for its contribution to the BRA’s five-year plan, which was outlined during the annual meeting.

“We appreciate this award from the BRA and take great pride in knowing that the work we do facilitates the creation of safe and affordable housing that serves to revitalize and stabilize communities,” said Robert Corley, CEO of NHS. “We look forward to continuing to partner with the BRA on future projects.”

The Brockton Redevelopment Authority is a quasi-public agency contracted by the city of Brockton, whose main mission is community development and economic revitalization, specifically for the benefit of low-and-moderate-income households and areas of Brockton.  NHS has partnered with the BRA as part of the redevelopment efforts taking place in the city of Brockton.
