Boston – he New England SIOR Chapter announced Joseph Porta, Partner at CBRE | The Boulos Company in Portland, ME, as the 2013 Robert W. Holmes SIOR Scholarship Recipient. The 14th Annual Scholarship Night was held on Thursday, October 3rd, at The Algonquin Club in Boston, MA. Porta was joined by several other SIOR members, including Jim Boudrot, Executive Vice President of NAI Hunneman Commercial; Garry Holmes, President of R.W. Holmes Realty Co. and Angela West, President of SIOR and Vice President of CBRE | Oklahoma.
Joseph Porta joined CBRE | The Boulos Company in 2009 as a commercial real estate broker and specializes in investment transactions with value-add components and tenant representation. By establishing relationships with local businesses and property owners, Porta has developed a strong network of national and regional corporations operating in the North East. In 2011, Porta was named CBRE | The Boulos Company’s Broker of the Year and was made a Partner of the company in 2012.
The Robert W. Holmes SIOR Scholarship was named after Bob Holmes, long-time SIOR member, past SIOR Chapter President and Founder of the R.W. Holmes Realty in Natick, MA. The scholarship is available by application only to an SIOR Candidate that best exemplifies a commitment to the SIOR organization and has a consistent record of stellar professionalism as an office/industrial broker in the Greater Boston market.
Commenting on the award, Porta expressed his gratitude for the opportunities offered by the scholarship. “I am honored to be this year’s Robert W. Holmes Scholarship Recipient,” Porta said. “My affiliation with SIOR has allowed me to learn from and interact with the best brokers in the business, and it continues to help me serve my clients as I continue to grow as a real estate professional.”
Prior to CBRE, Porta worked as a Broker at Ingalls Commercial Brokerage, where he gained initial experience in tenant representation work in the office market, investment sales, and leasing experience in the retail and industrial markets. Additionally, Porta graduated from Assumption College with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Management and Italian.
