Maine Design Firm Promotes Two

Portland, ME – Harriman announced the promotion of James C. Fortin, P.E., SECB and David W. Story, P.E., LEED AP to principal, effective January 1, 2019. Fortin and Story join the firm’s seven other owners, encompassing a diverse core of leaders from the firm’s multidisciplinary architectural, engineering, and planning practice.

Jim Fortin

Fortin is a structural engineer and leads Harriman’s structural and civil engineering groups, guiding contract development, client relations, and construction administration as well as providing direct project oversight to projects in development.

He has more than 25 years of experience in structural engineering, with extensive knowledge of building systems, serving as structural-engineer-of-record for new construction and major renovation projects spanning the medical, educational, commercial, industrial, housing and retail markets throughout New England and beyond.

Fortin is a licensed professional engineer in six states.

Dave Story

Story is a mechanical engineer leading the firm’s mechanical engineering group. Focused on providing sustainable and energy-efficient systems to clients primarily in the education, healthcare, and retail environments, he marries a practical approach to cost-effective solutions with an eye toward innovation.

With nearly 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering – all of it with Harriman – for diverse project types, Story is a licensed professional engineer in five states.
