Maynard, MASS – JM Coull has been awarded its fourth consecutive Diamond Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) Award by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). JMC was the first contractor in New England to receive this prestigious honor. The company has received 13 combined diamond, platinum, and gold STEP awards in previous years.
To qualify for the award, the company had to meet stringent safety criteria established by ABC, such as maintaining a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) 50% below the industry average. JMC’s experience Modification Rate (EMR) is 0.87, a key indicator of safety that also allows the firm to be more cost effective by having less expensive work’s compensation premiums than many of its competitors. With the addition of the 2014 Diamond STEP Award, the company has 20 awards recognizing its safety program.
President Andy Coull said, “ We take safety very seriously and realized early on that we need to be vigilant and always look to improve our program, which is why it’s such an honor to be recognized by ABC with this award.”
