GZA GeoEnvironmental Awarded Contract for Engineering Repair at Nepaug Reservoir Dam

Hartford, MA and Norwood, MA – GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc., has been retained by The Metropolitan District (Hartford, CT) to provide engineering final design services at the Nepaug Reservoir Dams.

Hartford, MA and Norwood, MA – GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc., has been retained by The Metropolitan District (Hartford, CT) to provide engineering final design services at the Nepaug Reservoir Dams.

The $500,000 design project includes stability repairs to the 113-foot-high concrete gravity Nepaug Dam as well as overtopping protection for the earthen Phelps Brook Dam and the East Dike. The project will include repairs to the bridge, which spans the Nepaug Dam spillway. GZA’s final design work began on the project in December of 2009. The Nepaug Reservoir Dam was built in 1915 and is located in the towns of Canton, New Hartford and Burlington. It is one of the primary water supplies for the greater Hartford region. Peter Baril, P.E., Principal at GZA will serve as Prime Engineer and Matthew Taylor, P.E. as Project Manager for the project.
