Gilbane Building Company has been named to 2014’s Top 100 Green Building Contractors List by the Engineering News-Record (ENR). Gilbane advanced from No. 7 on the Green Building list last year to No. 4 this year. This list is based on the volume of sustainable and green projects each firm has participated in for the last year.
Projects like the Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) at Channel Center in Boston contributed to Gilbane’s ranking this year.
Seeking Gold certification, this project included a retrofit plan that could deliver energy savings while still preserving the building’s 100-year-old historic character.
This Living Laboratory is home to Fraunhofer CSE’s Massachusetts Research & Design center for the advancement of sustainable energy systems.
CBS Boston named CSE one of Boston’s Top Five Green Buildings last year.
