Framing the Future Gala Announced

Clive Rainey

Norwell, MA – South Shore Habitat for Humanity  will hold its annual charity event, Framing the Future Gala, June 17th at the Quincy Marriott located at 1000 Marriott Drive in Quincy.

This event features cocktails, a three-course dinner, silent auction, live auction and will feature Habitat’s first volunteer Clive Rainey. He will share stories from his 40-year journey across the globe building Habitat homes.

“I’ve retired the richest man in the world,” Rainey explains. “I’ve spent my entire adult life helping people arrive safely at home. After 40 years of facing illness and danger, providence enabled me to arrive safely at home where my journey began in Americus, GA.”

In 1979, Rainey went to Kinshasa, Zaire to help build homes and communities. When Uganda’s dictator was overthrown, he felt compelled to stay and help rebuild Uganda. He returned to the US in 1983 to become Habitat’s first Africa area director. Today, despite being officially retired, he continues to travel the globe on Habitat’s behalf to inform and inspire families, volunteers, communities and supporters.
