Quincy, MA  Hines, Callahan Construction Managers and Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch helped launch a public boardwalk celebration at Meriel Marina Bay, Quincy’s newest waterfront apartment community, on August 12, 2017. The event commemorated the expansion of the Marina Bay boardwalk with a ribbon-cutting led by Quincy Mayor  Koch, followed by a free boardwalk festival offering fun and entertainment for all ages.

The development of Meriel Marina Bay has nearly doubled the size of the existing Marina Bay boardwalk, further enhancing this vibrant neighborhood which features condominiums, retail and restaurants, as well as a 686-slip marina.

Meriel Marina Bay is comprised of two, five-story buildings featuring 352 luxury apartments with ample garage parking and approximately 20,000sf of ground-level retail space ideal for dining establishments and specialty boutiques.

Featuring a wide variety of thoughtfully designed layouts including studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, the apartments at Meriel Marina Bay offer breathtaking views of the Boston skyline, Boston Harbor and the vibrant Marina Bay boardwalk. Meriel Marina Bay also provides easy access to Downtown Boston via car, a free shuttle to the North Quincy Red Line T and a seasonal water ferry.

“Our city has experienced an ongoing positive evolution across all neighborhoods over the last number of years with the steady addition of new businesses and residents proud to call Quincy home,” said Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch. “Marina Bay has particularly continued to thrive as a destination where residents and visitors alike come to live, work and play, and I’m thrilled to see the continued growth of this community with the expansion of the boardwalk through the construction of Meriel Marina Bay.”

“The expansion of the Marina Bay boardwalk is a truly meaningful milestone in our work to complete the Meriel Marina Bay community and further enhance the many wonderful aspects of this neighborhood,” said Michael Francis, Managing Director at Hines, developer of Meriel Marina Bay. “The new boardwalk and new retail spaces will provide additional opportunities to complement the already thriving mix of retail offerings along the waterfront and provide both locals and visitors with added space to enjoy the unique benefits of this waterfront neighborhood.”

The celebratory event, known as MMB By The Sea: Boardwalk Expansion Celebration featured local artisans and crafters; music and giveaways from KISS 108; an appearance by the Patriots Cheerleaders and Pat Patriot; live entertainment by The Waves; food trucks including Boston Burger Company, Del’s Lemonade and Clyde’s Cupcakes; as well as a beer garden by Ipswich Ale Brewery. The event also included an exclusive fashion show hosted by Boston-based designer Denise Hajjar.

“We are proud to continue our relationship with Hines on the construction of Meriel Marina Bay and adjacent boardwalk, which is the third project Callahan has managed for the firm,” added Patrick Callahan, President of Callahan Construction Managers. “As an active member of the community and standing partner of the Quincy High School ~ Community Partnership, Callahan is also pleased to play a role in giving back to the community through this celebratory event.”
