East Windsor, Conn – Erland Construction recently completed the Town Square residential neighborhood of Storrs Center in Mansfield, Connecticut – wrapping up a three-phase construction project that began in 2011. Adjacent to the main UConn campus, this 449,985-square-foot neighborhood is comprised of four 5-story podium buildings with a total of 414 rental units over 101,553 square feet of commercial/retail offerings at street level and a free-standing automotive service center.

Designed by BL Companies of Meriden, Connecticut, this first neighborhood of Storrs Center has created a vibrant sense of place for residents and visitors of Mansfield, as well as students and faculty at UConn. Demand for units in this apartment community – known as Oaks on the Square – resulted in 100% pre-leasing of each phase, and each phase was completed as scheduled for on-time occupancy. Among the many amenities built out by Erland is Geno’s Grille, a family restaurant developed by a team that includes Geno Auriemma, coach of UConn’s championship Women’s Basketball Team.

Storrs Center is the result of a public/private partnership that consists of developers Leyland Alliance and EdR with the Mansfield Downtown Partnership, the Town of Mansfield, and UConn.  The public partners also provided a public parking garage and Regional Transportation Center as well as the Mansfield Town Square to serve as the focal point of this neighborhood.
