Berkshire County, MA – DRA Architects Inc. has a modern design for the new 123,000sf Wahconah Regional High School, with emphasis on choosing materials that are both multifunctional and economical.

Being budget savvy was a critical part of project approval from Central Berkshire Regional School District, with Wahconah High School receiving funding from seven district towns and the Massachusetts School Building Authority. The many attributes of considering High-Performance Precast Concrete are its long-standing durability, insulation properties, structural capabilities and cost-effective customization for architectural finishes. A major reason for use of this material is the quality of the factory-made pieces for full envelope construction which has exposed interior surfaces to limit the number of onsite trades.

Construction Manager Barr and Barr has chosen Coreslab Structures (CONN) Inc. as a team member for this design-assist project with Skanska USA representing as owner’s project manager. The project is scheduled to break ground this spring and the new school building is anticipated to be completed in 2021.
