DeStefano Architects Hires Project Architect David Sanders

Portsmouth, NH – DeStefano Architects (D|A) proudly welcomes David Sanders, AIA, LEED AP to the firm as a Project Architect.

Sanders has nearly 12 years of experience in design and project management of new, renovation and sustainable construction for a multitude of private and public clients.  He comes to D|A with a geographically diverse portfolio, with facilities encompassing more than two million square feet in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Florida.

Previously, Sanders was Project Architect at Shepley Bulfinch in Boston, where he served as several leadership roles since 2006, including Associate and Technical Lead.  During his time there, he directed and mentored staff in the production of design, initiated discussions and group training based around maintaining technical standards and developing best firm practices, and organized office based initiatives to expand “green” sustainable design practice.

Sanders’ project experience includes privately developed mixed-use student housing projects in Pennsylvania and Florida.  His experience with historically significant design includes a renovation of the midcentury modern Hesburgh Library at the University of Notre Dame and a renovation/addition to the Seligman/Theta Delta Chi House at Amherst College.  Two projects in Sanders’ portfolio are LEED certified; the MacMahon Student Center at Saint Peter’s University is LEED Silver and Brody Learning Commons at John Hopkins University is LEED Gold.

Sanders’ initial work at DeStefano Architects will focus on a large multi-family project in Southern Maine, including renovation of the mixed-use buildings in the development.  This exciting new project will continue the firm’s long-standing tradition of providing creative, fresh architectural commercial and residential design to New England.

A graduate of the Boston Architectural College with a Bachelor of Architecture, Sanders also holds an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design Technology and an Associate of Arts Degree with Studio Arts Concentration from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida.

“David is an industry veteran and we are thrilled he wanted to create architecture in the Seacoast area where he lives with his family”, says Lisa DeStefano, Founder and Principal Architect at D|A. “With his vast project experience and ability to work well with clients, we see him as a fantastic addition to our team.”

For more than two decades DeStefano Architects has been providing award-winning design and construction administration services to private commercial and residential clients throughout New England.  D|A is dedicated to creating environments that function efficiently and improve quality of life.   For more information visit www.DestefanoArchitects.com.
