New Haven, Conn – Christopher Williams Architects’ (CWA) revitalization of Yale University’s Greeley Memorial Laboratory lobby was recently honored by the AIA CT with a 2013 merit award in the Encompassing Art category. Completed in 1959, the building is the first of Paul Rudolph’s five built works in New Haven. The project re-energized the 50 year old lobby and created a long-needed social space for the residents of Greeley and nearby buildings as well. “The foyer helped to revalue the building. The jury appreciated the whole composition, the lining, the furniture, that are well related and that make a whole. This is a very elegant, tasteful addition with an organic feel to forceful design,” noted the judging panel.
