Connecticut GC Receives CCIA Award

Students from Saxe Middle School in New Canaan show off the Lego building they constructed as a part of the O&G 101 program delivered at the school.

Torrington, CT – The Connecticut Construction Industries Association (CCIA) presented their 2018 Community Service Award to O&G Industries for its O&G 101 program.

The O&G 101 program is a two-session introduction to construction management that has been delivered to middle and high school students in both public and private school settings.

(L-R) O&G project manager Nelson Reis, O&G project superintendent Roger Johnson, Saxe Middle School STEM teacher Vivian Birdsall and O&G marketing director Seth Duke

The sessions teach students lessons about project planning, time management, leadership, collaboration and reflection.  The lesson includes a hands-on Lego build that simulate real project site conditions that challenge the students planning.

O&G has won numerous community service awards for their signature community programs including O&G Builds, the O&G Touch a Truck and the O&G Holiday Toy Drive.
