Hartford, CTAt the annual Project Team Awards and Scholarship dinner on June 9, the Connecticut Building Congress (CBC) awarded $6,000 in renewable scholarships to graduating Connecticut high school students entering college-level programs in architecture, construction-related engineering, construction management, surveying, planning, or other courses of study leading to associate, baccalaureate, or master’s degrees in the construction field. The awards are given for academic merit, extracurricular activities, potential, and financial need.

Representing students from across Connecticut, this year’s scholarship recipients include:

$2,000: Xavier Mills of Groton, and The Williams School, New London. College: Catholic University of America. Major: Architecture and Civil Engineering (dual degrees).

$2,000: Pedro Martinez of East Haven, and the Metropolitan Business Academy, New Haven. College: University of New Haven. Major: Civil Engineering.

$1,000: Laurence Cafaro of Ansonia, and Ansonia High School. College: Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Major: Civil Engineering.

$1,000: Caitlyn Peterson of Bethel, and Bethel High School. College: Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Major: Architectural Engineering.
