CBC Project Team Awards Call for Entries

Hartford, CT – The Connecticut Building Congress (CBC) is looking for outstanding building projects that exemplify project team excellence and represent the best practices in teamwork by project owners, architects, engineers, constructors, tradespeople, suppliers and service providers. Each year, CBC recognizes projects whose team members have met or surpassed goals and achieved higher project quality through this close collaboration.

Eligibility: The construction project must be located in Connecticut and have been substantially completed, as defined by the project contract, between Jan. 1, 2017 and Dec. 31, 2019.

Judging criteria: A panel of judges has been selected from a broad spectrum of project team members: owners, architects, engineers and constructors. Projects will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Completed project team spreadsheet (20%)
  • Documented team cooperation and collaboration from conceptual design through project completion (30%)
  • Team’s approach to the project’s unique challenges (30%)
  • Meeting the owner’s budget and schedule constraints (10%)
  • Project’s social, economic or sustainable design considerations (10%)

Categories: Based on the judges’ grading, the winning project in each of the categories will receive the CBC Project Team Award. A First Place and Merit may be awarded for small and large projects in each category.

  • Landscape Architecture / Public Spaces: Landscape architecture, parks, and other outdoor spaces for private or public entities (Small Project under $1 million / Large Project $1 million and over)
  • Senior Living: Independent, assisted living, nursing homes (Small Project under $3 million / Large Project $3 million and over)
  • Multi-Family / Mixed Use: Multi-family housing development and/or mixed-used development (Small Project under $5 million / Large Project $ 5 million and over)
  • Civic: Libraries, judicial, municipal buildings, firehouses, community centers, public works buildings, public transit centers, etc. (Small Project under $10 million / Large Project $10 million and over)
  • Civil/Structural / Utilities: Site, dams, subsurface work, water sourcing, surface water management, water and sewer plants and systems (Small Project under $10 million / Large Project $10 million and over)
  • Commercial / Industrial: Office, manufacturing, warehouses, data centers, etc. (Small Project under $10 million / Large Project $10 million and over)
  • Environmental: Ground, air, water, brownfields (Small Project under $10 million / Large Project $10 million and over)
  • Healthcare: (Small Project under $10 million / Large Project $10 million and over)
  • Higher Education: New or renovations (Small Project under $10 million/ Large Project $10 million and over)
  • K-12 Schools: School projects for grades Pre-K through 12 (Small Project under $10 million / Large Project $10 million and over)
  • Power and Energy: (Small Project under $10 million / Large Project $10 million and over)
  • Transportation: Roadways, bridges, rail (Small Project under $10 million/Large Project $10 million and over)
