BRAGB Announces Business Toolbox Learning Series

| February 9, 2016
Boston – The Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston (BRAGB) has announced a new series of workshops for small businesses called the “Business Toolbox Learning Series”. The series will kick off on February 11th from 4:30-6:00pm with its “Expert Estimating for Small Business Success” workshop at Harvey Building Products in Waltham, MA, and will be hosted by BRAGB President, Bob Ernst, of FBN Construction.

During the workshop, Ernst will share his experience as a small business owner and discuss how he overcame common challenges faced by growing companies in his early career to develop into a thriving business in the greater Boston area. After 30 years in business, Ernst has experienced both the successes and hardships that come with running a company. His presentation will offer valuable tips for small business owners on how to establish pricing strategies, set realistic company goals, create reasonable projections, and make business run smoother.

“When I started FBN Construction, I was a contractor who wanted to create outstanding products and ensure client happiness, but I lacked necessary business acumen,” Ernst said. “After a decade of delivering excellent projects, and believing I was successful, I eventually learned that I didn’t have a viable business model for sustained success. Shortly thereafter, I joined BRAGB and found the advice and guidance I was looking for. Now, I am happy to be able to share my insight with other small business owners to help them create structure, become successful, and also give back to the association that has given so much to me.”

The BRAGB Remodelers Council, which organized the event, promotes the benefits of remodeling homes through consumer tools and newsletters, and utilizes additional resources of BRAGB’s affiliate at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). As the leading trade association for building and remodeling in Massachusetts, BRAGB will continue to offer classes in the Business Toolbox Learning Series throughout the year. Future subjects will include financing, legal issues, staffing, contracts, insurance, permitting, and more.

“In addition to the many professional benefits that BRAGB members currently enjoy, we are excited to announce this new opportunity to enhance and grow their businesses,” said Lorraine DeVaux, Chief Executive Officer of BRAGB. “The Business Toolbox Learning Series gives our members the opportunity to acquire additional skills that will help them build a successful business model and increase their profits. With over three decades of experience in the construction industry, and two terms as BRAGB President, Bob Ernst is the perfect person to kick off this new endeavor. BRAGB is excited for him to share his tips for success, and we look forward to offering more educational opportunities in the future.”

Admission into the event is $20 for BRAGB members and $45 for non-members. For more information about BRAGB, or questions on how to become a member, please visit www.bragb.org or contact Lorraine DeVaux at 781-809-2101 or lorraine@bragb.org.
