Gorham, Maine – Avesta Housing recently opened the doors to Ridgewood at Village Square, an environmentally friendly, senior apartment community designed by Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. (GTA).

This community was awarded a LEED Platinum rating, the highest level for green, energy-efficient designed and constructed buildings.

Ridgewood at Village Square, one of the many Avesta Housing developments in Maine, is an affordable housing community for seniors and those with disabilities. Through its research to understand the communities of each new development area, Avesta Housing and GTA assure all stakeholders and local neighborhoods that the new developments will be attractive from site design to building construction while implementing sustainable, green measures throughout.

The senior residents living at Ridgewood will benefit greatly from the LEED Platinum rating. It will keep their living costs down while enjoying the healthy interior environment. The apartments at Ridgewood are affordable, secure, and energy-efficient with many amenities including the allowance of small pets.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGCB) developed a four-level rating system for improved environmental and health implications of the built environment. Through achieving LEED ratings, our buildings can work towards reducing energy consumption, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and ultimately lowering operating costs for businesses, as well as residents.
