Jericho, NY – All American Assisted Living (AAAL), an affiliate of Kaplan Development Group, LLC, has unveiled plans for a visionary new model of senior living with its first community in Hanson, Mass., located just south of Boston. Kaplan Development has responded to customer feedback and applied their expertise to design a premium assisted living community centered around a forward-thinking new philosophy of life care for its residents.

“Moving a loved one into an assisted living facility is very often a milestone decision for families,” says Glenn Kaplan, president and chief executive officer. “There are health, emotional, social and financial issues to consider. We designed our new residence to address these most basic of human needs holistically, with compassion and creativity. The mission of All American Assisted Living is to provide residents with comfort, security, and a wide range of activities and amenities at a very competitive cost.”

Truly Affordable Premium-Level Care
Kaplan Development has approached the design of this new community to uphold the company’s commitment to premium-level service offerings while controlling costs for residents. “All American Assisted Living offers the features of much larger facilities, delivered with the care and attention that defines our more intimate approach to assisted living,” says Michael Allen, regional vice president of operations. “Our apartments feature walk-in showers, kitchenettes, individually controlled air conditioning and heating, an emergency response system, and wall-to-wall carpeting.”

One of the main differentiators of All American Assisted Living is its physical layout. All apartments are designed as comfortable two-bedroom units with shared living area, kitchenette, and bathroom. Encouraging communal living as opposed to individual units maximizes sociability for residents, while minimizing the building’s footprint and operational costs. More importantly, these shared living spaces are also proven to promote physical and mental wellbeing among senior residents, who are often susceptible to feelings of isolation and loneliness, which over time, can lead to depression. Studies have shown that the daily presence of a roommate can dramatically reduce the feeling of isolation and loneliness. A roommate appreciates early signs of changes in daily routines of another, bringing additional attention to any health issues.

Building Amenities and Medical Services
The community, located in Hanson, Mass., is a brand new two-story construction, featuring 48 two-bedroom apartments for a maximum capacity of 96 residents; eight units (16 residents) are reserved for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of cognitive impairments. With 24-hour security, state-of-the-art emergency response system, the building offers a parlor and library for quiet socializing and private contemplation. Additional common space includes dining room, bistro, media room, and an arts and crafts room. There are public lounges on both floors.

Wellness and support services at All American Assisted Living include 24/7 certified personal care staff, an onsite registered nurse, weekly linen service and housekeeping, and a medication management program that ensures residents take their medications in the prescribed manner. Optional services include guest meals, room service, personal laundry, and onsite dental and healthcare services – including podiatry and physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

Activities and Enrichment
Residents of All American Assisted Living will be offered a wide range of entertainment and enrichment activities. Weekly outings to local shopping and cultural destinations, educational speakers, musical performances, exercise and strength training programs, movies, and outdoor gardens and walking trails are available to all who can and choose to participate. The building houses a parlor and library, a computer center, arts and crafts room, bistro, for various recreational and intellectual and social pursuits. Whether it is a lifelong passion or a new skill, residents will have diverse and constant opportunities to engage with others, enjoy themselves, and continue to grow as a person.

Rose Lane Memory Care
All American Assisted Living offers a secured environment for residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory loss. Rose Lane offers the same two-bedroom units that are in the assisted living apartments, as well as separate dining and activity rooms, and a family room for private visits. A secured courtyard enables Rose Lane residents to enjoy the fresh air without compromising their safety. Rose Lane residents and their families find a supportive homelike atmosphere where residents enjoy an active and enriching life where physical and emotional needs are met.

All American Assisted Living of Hanson is slated to open in the Fall of 2013.
