The American population is aging, with the 65+ population growing by over a third (34.2%) from 2010 to 2019, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. As the trend continues into the coming decade, we recognize that this growing demographic benefits from a continuum of care that presents unique opportunities for the way we at SALMON Senior Living create and manage our campuses and communities.
While the development of 55+ active adult communities has increased, we at SALMON Senior Living are finding a need for a separate subset of active, independent living homes that are developed for and cater to those in the 55-80 age range. Our residents maintain an active lifestyle while also enjoying the greater sense of community within a full-service, resort-style campus setting. Our residents also want to maintain independence without the burden of home maintenance and appreciate the convenience of an onsite fitness instructor or physical therapist, along with various restaurants that allow them to easily meet up with friends for lunch or dinner without having to cook or entertain.
SALMON at Medway offers various options to meet different living styles, preferences and price points. Residents can choose our cottage or apartment-style independent living homes, and later transition to apartment-style assisted living and/or memory care. Our continuum of care found on one campus represents a modern approach to senior living, allowing residents and their families to choose one campus that will serve their changing needs.
We offer traditional multifamily amenities — a fitness center, indoor heated pool and hot tub, postal center, and resident storage — but our campus offers so much more. From on-site banking to a beauty salon and spa, and multiple restaurants, our campus was envisioned to serve as a complete community for residents. These premium amenities foster a greater sense of community, with residents meeting one another and forming bonds — at the bar or in the barber’s seat. This resort-style, hospitality approach drives value for residents, while allowing them to maintain their independence and dictate their daily schedule as they see fit. Coupled with the choice of spacious apartment homes or cottages, these amenities allow residents to retreat to home when desired but participate actively in our community as they wish.
Complementing our amenities is exceptional programming. Our Medway team plans museum, theater and other cultural and social excursions; continuing education classes; and lectures. Our residents have also formed various interest groups and clubs.
At SALMON Senior Living, our continuum of care is important to each and every member of our team, and what truly sets up apart. As the third generation of our family-owned business, we are acutely attuned to what our residents need at each stage of life.
Across our campuses we offer a wide array of services, from assisted living to visiting nurse association (VNA) to skilled nursing (SNF) to memory care. Residents appreciate the 24/7 on-site nursing and built in Emergency Call system, available to all residents no matter what care level.
Additionally, SALMON at Medway offers on-site services such as primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, geriatric psychiatry services, dental, audiology, podiatry and weekly medication delivery. Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) gives access to physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, skilled nursing and hospice/palliative services. Our Enhanced Care Neighborhood can service residents who require more critical care needs.
This level of care allows SALMON Senior Living to meet our residents’ needs while maintaining their sense of home and community in a safe and trusted space.
