TMP is Now Bala | TMP

tmp-logoBoston – Boston-based TMP Consulting Engineers has merged with Bala Consulting Engineers, a Philadelphia-based firm with offices in King of Prussia, Pa. and New York City. Bala | TMP will serve the corporate, education, data center, transportation, and developer markets in the New England region.

In addition to providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering, the merger with Bala enables TMP to offer the value-added services of integrated technology design, energy modeling, commissioning, validation, and critical system operation and testing to its clients. Both TMP and Bala were formed in 1982 and have designed numerous noteworthy projects.

TMP’s prominent projects include Atlantic Wharf (the first LEED Platinum high-rise in Boston), multiple projects at Logan International Airport, Dartmouth College Visual Arts Center, the W Hotel, and 111 Huntington Avenue.

Bala is the leading independent engineering firm in the Philadelphia area, recognized for its excellence in engineering mission-critical facilities plus engineering over 30 high-rise buildings including the FMC Tower, the Comcast Center, and the new Comcast Innovation Center, which will be the tallest building in Philadelphia.

TMP leaders Mike Spence, Jim Magarian, and Kevin Caddle will continue to run the operations for Bala | TMP, plus gain the value-added technical expertise, marketing resources, and access to Bala’s national relationships and clients.

Mike Spence said “We are very excited about the merger with Bala and see this as the natural evolution for TMP to become more competitive locally and expand our services and capabilities to better serve clients in the Boston market.”

Michael Anastasio, Bala’s President, concurs; “TMP has an excellent reputation and rapport with their clients. Bala shares that reputation of engineering excellence. As a mid-size firm that provides our clients with big firm expertise, we can offer our clients a great value by having a  strong presence in Philadelphia, New York and now Boston.  We believe Boston is an excellent place to expand our diverse range of engineering services further into the Northeast Corridor and TMP provides an excellent foundation for that growth.”

Bala Consulting Engineers is based in Philadelphia and provides a broad range of engineering services for the built environment; making buildings more valuable, energy efficient, secure and reliable. Consistently ranked as a top engineering firm by ENR, Building Design & Construction and Consulting Specifying Engineer, Bala is registered in more than 30 states and will have offices in Boston, New York and Philadelphia.
